Communicating with Portuguese
The Portuguese language is the fifth most widely spoken language in the world. More than 200 million people speak Portuguese in Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, the Cape Verde Islands, São Tome, Principe, Timor and Macao. The vocal scale of the Portuguese language is described as vibrant, romantic and rich. The language is said to emphasize emotion and is famous for its lyrical qualities. In fact, Spanish poets used Portuguese instead of Castilian for many years.
Many people claim that Portuguese spoken in Portugal today has been influenced by Brazilian Portuguese.

Tom dia is a sing-song greeting extended to one and all as they pass. In Portugal, it is considered impolite to not extend one's hand or use proper titles in greeting.
