This website has been written to help Canadians
welcome people who come from Honduras to start a new life in Canada.
You may be interested in finding out more about Hondurans because you
are involved with the HOST program. You may have Honduran colleagues
at work or Honduran students at your school.
Hondurans immigrate to Canada for many different
reasons. Some come to further their education, others for job
opportunities, and others to join their families. They all arrive
with dreams, hopes and visions for their future, but they leave behind
families, friends, communities and a familiar way of life. |
 |
This website is intended to show how life for
Hondurans may be different from or similar to life in Canada. It
will also help you understand what changes your new friends are
experiencing and how you can help them adapt to Canada. You can
explain about customs that may be different from those in Honduras,
such as how to get around, enrol at school or find a doctor.
Not only is this an opportunity for you to help
a Honduran family, but also to learn from your new friends. Honduran
history and culture are rich and complex and have a lot to teach all
of us. |
